SCOTTSDALE PREMIER SOCCER CLUB TEAMS RETURN TO PRACTICE

The Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) and its members have continued to demonstrate their commitment to the community and returning to play in a methodical manner.  In recognition of this commitment ASA will continue in Phase III of the Return-to-Play guidelines.  Phase III is defined by the following activities and restrictions:

As we continue with Phase III it is important that everyone remained disciplined in the use of masks and social distancing.  This includes players wearing masks to/from the field, coaches wearing masks, and parents staying in their cars/parking lot and maintaining strict adherence to social distancing. As we return to play, and ultimately competition the following should always be adhered to:

Since March ASA has met weekly with Directors of Coaching (DOC) and had numerous meetings with club presidents.  These calls have been very productive where clubs have provided invaluable feedback and input into developing and implement the Return-to-Play Guidelines.

The 2020-2021 season is quickly approaching, and ASA and our member clubs are confident that we will be able to kick-off and have a great season.  Together, ASA and club leadership are finalizing the Return-to-Competition guidelines.  Once finalized, these guidelines will be implemented to ensure a safe return to playing games.  These guidelines are being developed not only in partnership with club leadership but also based on feedback from local authorities, as well as organizations, including State Associations that have already returned to competition.  We expect to have these finalized within the next two weeks.

Ultimately, if you are not comfortable with returning to play – DON’T.  There is no single answer or decision that will be supported by all.  But, it is our intention to develop confidence in the community that playing soccer and returning to competition will be done as safely as possible and that ASA is doing everything it can to be thoughtful in our decisions with player, coach, family and community safety being our top priority.

ASA, its staff, and our member Clubs and Leagues are absolutely focused on the safety and well-being of everyone involved in our great game but it will be the responsibility of EVERYONE to work together to adhere to these guidelines. As we work to develop and implement these guidelines ASA will remain flexible, as we have demonstrated from the outset of this pandemic and will make any, and all adjustments necessary to keep our communities safe.
